Before
Weeks Before
- Refine every single type of question.
- Prioritize practicing mock interviews in the weeks leading up to the interview day. This helps build confidence and refine your responses.
Days Before
- If you know the names of your interviewers, research them online to gather information that might be relevant during the interview.
- Avoid contacting the interviewers before the interview day, as this can be perceived as intrusive.
- On the day of the interview, review key information, including interest rates, stock market performance, company details, and any relevant macroeconomic news.
- If you've connected with anyone at the firm before the interview, inform them of your interview day and express your gratitude for their assistance.
- Practice speaking out loud to ensure you sound enthusiastic but not overly so. This helps you convey confidence during the interview.
Right Before
- On the day of the interview, review key information, including interest rates, market performance (S&P, Dow, NASDAQ), company details and news if you’re pitching a stock, and any relevant macroeconomic news.
- Plan to arrive at least 15-20 minutes early for the interview. This allows time for any unexpected delays and a final review of your notes.
- Make sure that your palms aren’t sweaty, knees weak, or arms heavy, and that there’s no vomit on your sweater already (mom's spaghetti). You might be nervous, but on the surface, you should look calm and ready.
- Also, no stinky - stinky bad.
During
- Begin the interview with a positive attitude and confidence. If it's an in-person interview, offer a friendly handshake.
