Don’t actually use the pictured format.

Uniformity is key. Most resumes that get weeded out are done so due to sloppy and inconsistent formatting. Simply having a neat resume will place you above most of the competition.
Try to quantify as much as possible.
Everything in your resume is fair game for questioning – be able to defend every line and walk through every process outlined, as well as go deeper if needed. Never lie.
You really don’t need that personal statement unless you’ve been the king of some small island nation or something.
Don’t neglect the hobbies - they’re crucial in making you stand out as a candidate and help bring some fresh talking points up in interviews. However, make sure your hobbies are actually interesting and unique, rather than hogwash like “financial analysis”.
If you have any relevant projects or publications, add them under a new section.

Multiple Pages: Keep it to one page.

Non-Concrete Items: Avoid personal statements and soft skills (“Leadership”, “Teamwork”) under the ‘Skills’ section - anything that occupies space while communicating very little.
- If a kindergartener can claim it, it’s not noteworthy.
Formatting: Avoid periods at the end of bullet points, two-line bullets, personal pronouns, and margin errors.
- Spacing is somewhere many mistakes are made. Ensure that every equivalent line space matches up. Additionally, hit Ctrl+F and the space bar two times to check if there are any accidental double spaces.
Extensions: Always submit your resumes in a .pdf extension, unless for peer/mentor editing purposes or specified otherwise.
Inconsistency: Make sure the margins are aligned and that formatting is uniform across the lines and throughout the page.
Colorful Designs: Unless you’re applying for a position in the arts, the resume is not the place to express your artistic creativity. Avoid the Google Docs templates.
